Cisco Cuts 350 Jobs In Another Round of Layoffs

Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO), a multinational technology conglomerate, will lay off 350 employees in Silicon Valley next month, in the tech giant's latest round of job cuts.

According to a filing with California's Employment Development Department last week, Cisco will lay off 227 people in San Jose, and another 123 in nearby Milpitas, Calif., effective Oct. 16.

The layoffs come at a time when the tech industry is facing a number of challenges, including a slowdown in revenue growth, inflation, supply chain disruptions, and a potential recession.

Cisco has a history of layoffs, particularly during economic downturns. In 2001, the company laid off 6,500 employees, or 15% of its workforce. In 2009, Cisco laid off 10,000 employees, or 10% of its workforce. In 2014, Cisco laid off 6,000 employees, or 7% of its workforce.

The latest round of layoffs at Cisco is a sign of the broader challenges facing the tech industry. Other tech giants, such as Meta, Twitter, and Netflix, have also announced layoffs in recent months.
