# 179 Workers at a Centerville Amazon Delivery Partner and 66 West Chester Hospital Service Staff Face Layoffs

Ardor's Centerville closure ends 179 jobs at an Amazon delivery partner by November 26 and Sodexo ends 66 jobs at West Chester Hospital. Dates, rights and help.

[Ardor Delivery Services will permanently close its Centerville business on November 26](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), and the closure notice it sent to Ohio lists [179 affected workers](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures). Ardor is an [Amazon delivery service partner](https://www.wyso.org/news/2026-09-27/two-southwest-ohio-companies-announce-layoffs-of-more-than-200-workers), and its job table lists [172 delivery associates, five dispatchers and two managers](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf). A second notice on the same state list covers [66 workers at a Sodexo site in West Chester](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures), where food service workers, cooks and cleaning staff lose their Sodexo jobs on [October 1](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf). For [Metaintro](https://www.metaintro.com) readers, the useful part is what the two notices say about timing, job titles and rights, and what Ohio offers workers who are losing a paycheck this autumn. Here is what the filings show and what to do next.

## What Exactly Is Closing at Ardor Delivery Services?

This is a total closure of the Ardor Delivery Services LLC business at [365 Beck Drive in Centerville](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), and the closure is permanent.

[The notice was filed and signed by Ardor's owner](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), not by Amazon. The owner's letter is dated [September 17](https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/centerville-delivery-company-to-lay-off-179-after-closure/article_d2eea8ae-5cb5-5cc4-b14b-1bd682b2bdfd.html), and the state stamped it received on [September 24](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf).

Two lines in the letter matter most for workers. All affected employees [have been notified of their separation date](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), and there are [no bumping rights](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), which in a total closure means there is no other role at the company to move into.

On the state list, the Ardor filing is logged as a [closure with no union](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures), so workers have no union contract to lean on. [The notice](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf) does not give a reason for the closure, and it does not say whether Amazon will move the routes to another partner or offer the workers jobs elsewhere.

> The entire business will be closed and all employees at the facility will be impacted, according to [the Ardor closure letter](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf).

## Which Ardor Jobs Are Affected, and When Do They End?

The [job table in the notice](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf) is short, and it is almost all frontline delivery work.

- **Delivery associates.** The notice lists [172 delivery associates](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), the frontline delivery role.
- **Dispatchers.** It lists [five dispatchers](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf).
- **Managers.** It lists [two managers](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf).

The dates are the part to read twice. Affected employees are expected to be separated from work [beginning on November 11 and ending on November 26](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), over a 14-day window. The job table itself dates every role to [November 26](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), so a worker should ask Ardor directly which day is their own last day.

Anyone without a personal date in writing can call the owner on the number printed in the letter, [937-305-0105](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf).

## What Is Happening to the Sodexo Jobs at West Chester Hospital?

The second notice comes from [Sodexo CTM, LLC](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf). [Sodexo](https://us.sodexo.com/industry/healthcare) describes its hospital work as food and nutrition, environmental services, healthcare technology management and retail services.

The notice is addressed to the [Butler County Board of Commissioners](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) and dated [July 31, 2026](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf). Sodexo will end its contract and stop services at [7700 University Drive in West Chester](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf), which is the address of [UC Health's West Chester Hospital](https://www.uchealth.com/en/locations/west-chester-hospital). Sodexo's services end on [October 1, 2026](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf), and so does Sodexo's employment of the staff assigned there.

The largest groups on the job list are [22 environmental service attendants](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf), [11 food service workers](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) and [nine Cook I roles](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf). The [rest of the list](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) runs from utility workers and cashiers to food and facilities supervisors, a dietitian nutritionist and several managers. As in the Ardor letter, [bumping rights do not exist](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) under the Sodexo notice, and the action is expected to be permanent, with Sodexo's operation at the unit closed. The notice adds a caveat. Its details are based on the best information available and [may change due to subsequent events](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) beyond Sodexo's control. The state list records the total as [66 workers](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures).

This part of the story is not new, and it is worth being clear about that. The state list logs the Sodexo notice as received on [August 5](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures), weeks before the Ardor filing, and the jobs end on [October 1](https://www.wyso.org/news/2026-09-27/two-southwest-ohio-companies-announce-layoffs-of-more-than-200-workers).

## Why Have These Hospital Jobs Changed Hands Before?

The West Chester jobs sit inside a contract that [changed hands a year ago](https://local12.com/news/local/university-cincinnati-health-cuts-ties-termination-sodexo-impacting-hundreds-workers-hospital-jobs-unemployment-layoffs). The Cincinnati Business Courier, in a report carried by Local 12, says UC Health [will not renew its contract with Sodexo](https://local12.com/news/local/university-cincinnati-health-cuts-ties-termination-sodexo-impacting-hundreds-workers-hospital-jobs-unemployment-layoffs), which [for the past year](https://local12.com/news/local/university-cincinnati-health-cuts-ties-termination-sodexo-impacting-hundreds-workers-hospital-jobs-unemployment-layoffs) has run nutrition and cleaning at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and West Chester Hospital, and the health system plans to [return to its previous vendor](https://local12.com/news/local/university-cincinnati-health-cuts-ties-termination-sodexo-impacting-hundreds-workers-hospital-jobs-unemployment-layoffs).

In 2025, UC Health said it [chose a new partner to provide food and environmental services](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio) at both hospitals, and the contracts that ended then were with [Morrison Healthcare and Crothall Healthcare](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio). Their notices in 2025 listed [256 Morrison employees and 300 Crothall employees](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio). Of those, [116 employees were in the Butler County area](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio), where West Chester sits, and the rest were in Hamilton County. The notices set the layoffs to take effect on [July 25, 2025](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio).

At that time, UC Health's view in a statement was that [many of these employees may apply for newly opened positions](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio) under the new contract. This year's [Sodexo notice](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf) carries no such line, so Sodexo staff should ask the incoming vendor directly rather than assume it.

The pattern matters for anyone in hospital food service or cleaning. The work stays in the building, but in the 2025 change UC Health said [the individuals affected by this transition were employed by the previous vendor](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio), not by the hospital.

## How Do Ohio WARN Notices Work, and What Does the Law Require?

The Sodexo notice is provided [in compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf), and the Ardor filing is a [WARN letter to the state](https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/centerville-delivery-company-to-lay-off-179-after-closure/article_d2eea8ae-5cb5-5cc4-b14b-1bd682b2bdfd.html). The notices are required from private companies with [100 or more workers](https://www.wyso.org/news/2026-09-27/two-southwest-ohio-companies-announce-layoffs-of-more-than-200-workers), and the point is to give workers time to find other work.

The [US Department of Labor's WARN Advisor](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp) sets out the core rule. Workers laid off in certain circumstances must receive [60 days advance written notice](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp) of their job losses. Congress passed the law in [August 1988](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp), and it took effect on [February 4, 1989](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp). Its purpose was to give workers [sufficient time to seek other employment or retraining opportunities](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp) before their jobs end, and the department [urges employers to give their workers notice even when WARN does not require it](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp).

Two details from that page matter for workers. The Department of Labor has no role in enforcing WARN, which is [enforced by private lawsuits in the Federal courts](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp). The advisor's own worked example puts an employer's exposure at [up to 60 days back pay and benefits](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp) for workers who were owed notice. A worker who believes a notice came late would have to take it up through [the Federal courts](https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/eta/warn/i2.asp).

Ohio asks employers to send WARN notices to its Rapid Response inbox and publishes them on its [current public notices page](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures), with columns for the date received, the city and county, the potential number affected and the layoff dates.

## How Big Are These Layoffs Against Ohio's Year So Far?

The two notices do not stand alone. The same page shows a notice from [Powers and Sons, LLC in Montpelier listing 53 potentially affected workers](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures), received [September 23](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures).

At the time of writing, the Layoff Data tracker built from Ohio WARN filings counts [64 notices covering 7,207 workers](https://layoffdata.com/ohio/2026/) in 2026, and it labels the year's data as in progress. The largest single notice on that tracker is from [First Brands Group Seneca](https://layoffdata.com/ohio/2026/), which cut [407 jobs in Tiffin](https://layoffdata.com/ohio/2026/).

Neither the Ardor nor the Sodexo notice is among the [five largest on that tracker](https://layoffdata.com/ohio/2026/). For the people covered by them, though, the size of the list does not change the bills at home.

## How Do Affected Workers File for Unemployment in Ohio?

Ohio's own guide is clear on timing. The [state's step-by-step filing guide](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) tells workers to apply as soon as they become unemployed. A claim [becomes effective the Sunday after](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) the application is filed.

To qualify for traditional benefits, you must be unemployed through no fault of your own, and you must have worked at least [20 weeks in covered employment and earned at least $280 a week](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) in the base period of your claim.

- **Apply online or by phone.** Apply at unemployment.ohio.gov through the [Ohio filing guide steps](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf), or by calling [1-877-644-6562](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. It is [not possible to apply in person](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf).
- **Have your papers ready.** You need your Social Security number, a driver's license or state ID number, employer details for the [last 6 weeks](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) and bank details for payment.
- **Use the layoff ID.** If you were given a Mass-Layoff or Buyout Identification Number, the [application asks for it](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf), so enter it.
- **File every week.** While you wait for a decision, file your weekly claims, because you must [file weekly claims for each week](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf) you are unemployed to be paid.

The [state eligibility page](https://jfs.ohio.gov/unemployment-services/for-workers/eligibility-for-unemployment-benefits-resource) lists reasons you may not qualify, including still receiving vacation or sick pay from your employer, or having received benefits for [26 weeks](https://jfs.ohio.gov/unemployment-services/for-workers/eligibility-for-unemployment-benefits-resource) in your current benefit year.

> Our dislocated worker services help laid-off workers get new jobs with similar pay, according to [the Ohio dislocated worker page](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services).

## What Help Can Rapid Response and Dislocated Worker Services Offer?

Ohio's [Rapid Response and Layoff Aversion program](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/rapid-response-and-layoff-aversion) is designed to help employers and workers in times of transition, both before and during layoffs and plant closures. The state administers it, and [the services are delivered locally by Rapid Response teams](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/rapid-response-and-layoff-aversion) that include state and local partners.

The dislocated worker program is the one written for workers covered by notices like these. The [state's dislocated worker page](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services) defines a dislocated worker as someone 18 or older who was given notice of a layoff or termination, including one caused by the permanent closure of a workplace.

The Ardor letter describes that situation, a [permanent closure with all affected employees notified](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf). The definition also covers anyone whose place of work, by the employer's own notice, will close [within 180 days](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services), so Ardor staff can ask for help now, before their last shift.

The page sends workers to their closest [OhioMeansJobs center](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services) for more information. The practical step is to call that center soon, say your employer has filed a WARN notice, and ask what help is open to you.

## What This Means for Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?

Our take is that the Ardor workers have weeks of notice, and they should use them now rather than in November. A closure notice with a date weeks away is a head start, and the [state's dislocated worker rules](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services) mean they can ask for help while still on the payroll.

At the time of writing, the Sodexo staff have only days left. Their jobs end on [October 1](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Sodexo_CTM_LLC.pdf), so the filing steps above apply almost straight away.

Here is what we would do:

- **Get your last day in writing.** The Ardor letter gives a [window from November 11 to November 26](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/warn/WARN%202026/Ardor_Delivery_Services.pdf), so ask which day is yours.
- **Ask the incoming vendor about openings.** UC Health plans to return to its [previous vendor](https://local12.com/news/local/university-cincinnati-health-cuts-ties-termination-sodexo-impacting-hundreds-workers-hospital-jobs-unemployment-layoffs), and when it chose a new partner in 2025, UC Health said it was its understanding that many of the outgoing vendors' employees [may apply for newly opened positions](https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2025/05/23/health-care-layoffs-cincinnati-ohio).
- **File the week your job ends.** A claim starts the Sunday after you apply under the [Ohio filing guide](https://dam.assets.ohio.gov/image/upload/jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/pdf/QuickTipsAndStepByStepGuide.pdf), so do not wait.
- **Call your OhioMeansJobs center.** Ask the [dislocated worker program](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/wioa-workforce-innovation-and-opportunity-act/employment-services/dislocated-worker-services) what help you can get while you still have a paycheck.
- **Watch the state list.** New filings appear on the [Ohio public notices page](https://jfs.ohio.gov/job-workforce-services/job-programs-and-services/submit-a-warn-notice/current-public-notices-of-layoffs-and-closures) with the potential number affected and the layoff dates, so check it if you work for another delivery partner or hospital contractor in the region.
- **Search by skill, not only by title.** Write down the skills behind your job title, such as route planning for a delivery associate or food safety for a hospital cook, before you start [a job search with AI after a layoff](https://www.metaintro.com/blog/job-search-with-ai-after-a-layoff).
- **Read any separation paperwork before you sign.** If your employer offers a separation package, it is worth reading up on [outplacement and what a severance package can include](https://www.metaintro.com/blog/what-is-outplacement-severance-package-negotiate-2026) first.
