Chief executive Robert Ryan said "[this €420m investment will strengthen our infrastructure across the region](https://www.irishexaminer.com/business/companies/arid-41927684.html)" and that "[the €306m we are investing in Cork alone reflects the importance of the county to our future](https://www.irishexaminer.com/business/companies/arid-41927684.html)." The €430m in [one Cork Beo headline](https://www.corkbeo.ie/news/jobs/lidl-invest-430m-create-500-34805164) does not match that number, and the same report's text gives [a €420m investment across Munster](https://www.corkbeo.ie/news/jobs/lidl-invest-430m-create-500-34805164). The announcement was made [at an event at Blackrock Observatory in Cork on 23 October](https://irishbuildingmagazine.ie/2026/10/23/lidl-announces-multi-million-investment/), attended by local suppliers, community partners and regional stakeholders. Munster is one slice of a national plan.
