# Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e.V.

The Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) researches at the interface of biological and technical systems - with an interdisciplinary approach and application-inspired basic research.
Our research aims at a sustainable intensification of bioeconomic production systems. To this end, we analyse, model and evaluate the systems. We develop and integrate new technologies and management strategies for a knowledge-based, location-specific production of biomass and its use for food, as bio-based products and energy sources.
In this way we contribute to food security, animal welfare, the holistic use of biomass and the protection of climate and environment.
