# Maximizing Your Resume's Impact

## Why Your Resume Matters on Metaintro

Marsh, Metaintro’s AI, uses every available signal to match you with the right opportunities. While conversational context from your Threads helps, your resume is the most powerful input you can provide — it’s a structured, complete view of your professional background.

Without a resume, Marsh relies only on what you mention in chat. With one, it can cross-reference your preferences with your actual experience and surface opportunities you may not have considered. The result is fewer irrelevant roles and more “this fits perfectly” matches.

If you don’t have a resume yet — or want to improve your current one — Marsh can build one for you from scratch. See our guide on how to use the Resume Builder to create one in 10–20 minutes.

## Resume Best Practices

Before uploading, take a few minutes to make sure your resume is in strong shape. These guidelines help Marsh extract better insights — and they also improve how your resume performs with human reviewers.

#### Use Bullet Points for Experience

For each role, use concise bullet points to describe your responsibilities and achievements. Avoid long paragraphs. Bullet points make it easier for both AI and recruiters to quickly understand your experience.

#### Write a Clear Professional Summary

Include a short two- to three-sentence summary at the top of your resume. This tells Marsh what type of role you’re targeting and helps prioritize relevant job matches.

#### Keep Your Skills Section Updated

List skills that reflect your current capabilities. Remove outdated tools or technologies. An accurate skills section ensures Marsh matches you with roles you’re actually qualified for today.

#### Quantify Your Achievements

Add numbers wherever possible. *“Increased revenue by 18%”* is far more impactful than *“Helped grow revenue.”* Metrics give clear evidence of your impact.

#### Maintain Consistent Formatting

Use consistent fonts, headings, and date formats. Avoid complex layouts like tables or multi-column designs, which can confuse parsing systems and cause details to be missed.

#### Use Text-Based Files, Not Scans

Upload a text-based PDF generated from a document editor. Avoid scanned files — Marsh needs selectable text to read and process your resume properly.

## How to Upload Your Resume

Uploading your resume takes just a few seconds:

1. **Open a new Thread** (or continue in an existing one) from your Metaintro homepage.
2. **Tap the + button** next to the chat bar.
3. **Select "Upload Resume"** from the menu. You’ll see the option labeled *"Upload your resume and we’ll use it to find better-fit roles based on your experience, skills, and goals."*
4. **Choose your file** from your device. Accepted formats are **PDF, DOC, and DOCX**.
5. **Start searching.** Marsh begins processing your resume immediately and tailors results in that Thread.

## What Happens After You Upload

Once uploaded, Marsh processes your resume in the background:

- **Parsing** — Extracts key details like roles, companies, skills, education, and experience.
- **Profile enrichment** — Builds a clearer understanding of your background.
- **Tailored matching** — Prioritizes job results that align with your actual experience, not just keywords.

Your resume remains attached to the Thread, so every follow-up automatically uses it.

## Updating Your Resume

When your experience changes — a new role, certification, or project — upload an updated version using the same **+ → Upload Resume** flow. The latest file becomes the active version for matching.

If you maintain multiple versions of your resume, the easiest approach is to use a separate Thread for each version, depending on the roles you’re targeting.

## Tips for Maximum Impact

- **Tailor before uploading.** Use the version that best matches the roles you’re targeting in that Thread.
- **Use filters alongside your resume.** Your resume provides context; filters refine results in real time.
- **Review and iterate.** If results feel off, update your summary or skills and re-upload.
- **Ask Marsh for feedback.** For example: *“How can I improve this resume for product roles?”*
- **Keep it updated.** A current resume ensures you’re ready when opportunities appear.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q. What file formats does Metaintro accept?**

Metaintro accepts **PDF, DOC, and DOCX** files. Resumes should be 10 pages or fewer and contain selectable text. Avoid scanned documents — they can’t be reliably processed.

**Q. Is my resume private and secure?**

Yes. Your resume is used only to improve job matching within Metaintro. It is never shared with employers or third parties without your explicit action. You remain in control of how your information is used. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

**Q. Do I need to upload my resume in every Thread?**

Not exactly. Your resume stays attached to the Thread where it was uploaded and is used automatically for all follow-ups in that conversation. If you start a new Thread and want the same personalization, simply upload it again — it takes just a few seconds.
