## Why a Good Tracker Changes Your Job Search

Most job seekers lose track of their applications within a week. Sticky notes, half-finished spreadsheets, email threads buried three inboxes deep — it all adds up to the same feeling: *"Wait, did I already apply to that one?"*

Metaintro takes that mental load off your plate. Every job you save or apply to is automatically organized in one place, with clear statuses, AI-powered insights, and a real-time view of where everything stands. Instead of wondering what's in motion and what needs a nudge, you open **Jobs of Interest** and see your entire search at a glance — from the roles you're still considering to the offers you've accepted.

The result is a calmer, more focused job search — and fewer opportunities slipping through the cracks.

## Where to View Your Applications

Every job you save or apply to through Metaintro is tracked automatically. To find your full application history:

1. **Open the left sidebar** on your Metaintro dashboard.
2. **Click Jobs of Interest.** This is your central hub for everything in your pipeline.

Inside Jobs of Interest, your applications are organized so you can quickly see which positions are active, which have progressed, and which have been decided. You can sort, filter, and explore each one in detail.

## Understanding the Application Dashboard

At the top of the Jobs of Interest page, four counters give you an instant snapshot of your pipeline:

- **Total** — The complete count of every job currently in your Jobs of Interest list.
- **Not Applied** — Jobs you've saved but haven't applied to yet. These are opportunities waiting for your next move.
- **In Progress** — Applications you've submitted that are still active. Anything from "Applied" to "Interview scheduled" lives here.
- **Completed** — Applications that have reached a final outcome — whether you accepted an offer, were declined, or withdrew.

Together, these four buckets make it easy to see the health of your job search at a glance. Too many in "Not Applied"? Time to start submitting. Lots in "Completed" but none landing? Time to revisit your resume or search strategy.

## The Job List

Below the counters, each saved job appears as a card with key details at a glance:

- **Job Details** — Role title and company name.
- **Status** — The current state of the application. See the full list of statuses below.
- **Resume Match** — An AI-generated match score showing how well your uploaded resume fits this role.
- **Saved Date** — When you added the job to your list.
- **Actions** — Quick actions like expanding the Get Insights panel, changing status, or removing the job.

You can also use the **Filter jobs** search bar to quickly find a specific role by title or company, and toggle **Compact All** to collapse every card for a cleaner overview.

## Application Statuses

Each saved job moves through a series of statuses that reflect where you stand in the hiring process. You can update a job's status anytime from the **Actions** menu (⋯) on any job card. Here's what each one means:

- **Saved** — You've added the job to your Jobs of Interest list but haven't taken any action on it yet. This is the default for every newly saved job and it counts toward the **Not Applied** bucket.
- **Applying** — You're actively working on your application (drafting a cover letter, tailoring your resume, filling out the form). Use this to track roles you're in the middle of applying to.
- **Applied** — You've submitted your application and are waiting to hear back. The role moves from *Not Applied* into the **In Progress** bucket.
- **Interviewing** — You've been invited to interview or are currently in the interview process. This could include phone screens, video calls, technical assessments, or on-site visits. Stays in **In Progress**.
- **Offer Received** — Congratulations — the employer has extended an offer. Review the terms carefully and take time to evaluate. If you want help thinking through the offer, open a Thread and ask Marsh about compensation, benefits, or negotiation strategies.
- **Accepted** — You've accepted the offer. The job moves to the **Completed** bucket.
- **Rejected** — The employer decided not to move forward, or you were declined at some stage. This happens for many reasons unrelated to your qualifications — don't be discouraged. Moves to **Completed**.
- **Withdrawn** — You decided to withdraw your application (maybe the role wasn't right, or you accepted something else). Moves to **Completed**.

You can also choose **Remove saved job** from the same menu if you want to delete a job from your list entirely.

## How Statuses Map to the Counters

CounterStatuses included

**Not Applied** - Saved, Applying

**In Progress -**Applied, Interviewing, Offer Received

**Completed** - Accepted, Rejected, Withdrawn

Keeping statuses up to date is the single best way to make your Jobs of Interest dashboard a true reflection of your job search.

Using these insights consistently is one of the biggest differences between a scattered job search and a focused one. Every click turns a saved job into something actionable.

## Updating a Job's Status

To change the status of a saved job:

1. **Open Jobs of Interest** from the left sidebar.
2. **Find the job** you want to update and click the **⋯ (Actions)** button on the right side of the card.
3. **Choose a new status** from the Update Status list — Saved, Applying, Applied, Interviewing, Offer Received, Accepted, Rejected, or Withdrawn.
4. The counters at the top of the page update instantly to reflect the change.

This is especially useful when you've applied to a role outside of Metaintro and still want to keep everything in one place, or when you want to log progress the moment an employer reaches out.

## Follow-Up Best Practices

Following up on your applications shows initiative and genuine interest. Here's how to do it effectively:

**Timing**

- **Wait 5 to 7 business days** after submitting your application before sending a follow-up. This gives the hiring team enough time to review candidates without feeling rushed.
- If a job listing mentions a specific timeline (for example, *"applications reviewed on a rolling basis"*), adjust your follow-up timing accordingly.
- **After an interview**, send a thank-you message within 24 hours and follow up on next steps after 5 business days if you haven't heard back.

**Personalization**

- Reference the specific role and something you discussed or found compelling about the company.
- Keep your message concise — three to four sentences is ideal.
- Avoid generic templates. Hiring managers can spot a mass follow-up email instantly.
- If you have new information to share (a relevant project, certification, or achievement), mention it briefly.

**Channels**

- Email is the most common and appropriate channel for follow-ups.
- A polite message on a professional network can work for a soft touch, especially if you connected with the interviewer.
- Avoid calling unless the employer specifically invited phone follow-ups.

## Keeping Your Profile Updated

Your Metaintro profile directly influences how well you match with open positions and how the AI prioritizes recommendations. Keeping it current can meaningfully improve your success rate:

- **Resume** — Upload your latest version whenever you gain new experience, skills, or certifications. Marsh re-evaluates your matches each time your resume changes.
- **Skills and preferences** — Update your target job titles, preferred locations, salary expectations, and work arrangement preferences as they evolve.
- **Career summary** — A clear, concise summary helps Marsh understand your goals and surface the most relevant opportunities in your Threads.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q. Can I track jobs I applied to outside of Metaintro?**

Yes. Save the job in Metaintro and then manually set its status to *In Progress* (or whatever stage you're at). This lets you keep your entire job search — inside and outside Metaintro — in one place, and still use Get Insights to prep for interviews, check resume fit, and more.

**Q. What does "Resume Match" actually measure?**

The Resume Match score compares your uploaded resume against a specific job description and estimates how closely your experience, skills, and qualifications align with what the employer is looking for. It's a quick way to prioritize which roles are worth your time — higher match scores generally mean fewer skill gaps and a stronger application. For a deep-dive on any specific job, click **Check resume fit for this position** in the Get Insights panel.

**Q. Can I get notified when an application status changes?**

Yes. Go to **Settings → Notifications** and toggle on the application updates you want to receive. We recommend enabling both in-app and email notifications for status changes so you never miss a time-sensitive update like an interview invitation.
