## Description

The Medical Coder assigns and validates ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes using clinical documentation and the OPTUM encoder. The role supports reimbursement classification, DRG/APC and E/M coding, charge capture, billing, denied or suspended account management, payer-policy interpretation, and education on coding and documentation rules. Required qualifications include CCS and CPC credentials, anatomy and physiology knowledge, a high school diploma or equivalent, and medical terminology experience; two or more years of experience and a two- or four-year degree are preferred.
