Athens Job Seekers Can Walk In and Meet 140 Employers With More Than 3,500 Jobs on October 10
Athens job seekers can meet 140 employers with more than 3,500 jobs at DYPA's free Career Day on October 10. See the sectors, time slots and what to bring.

More than 3,500 job openings from more than 140 companies will be on offer at the 58th Career Day of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) in Athens on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Divani Caravel Hotel on Vasileos Alexandrou Avenue. The event is free and open to people out of work and to employees who want new opportunities or a change of job, and the optional pre-registration page lets you pick a two-hour arrival window. For Metaintro readers in Athens and across Attica, this guide sets out which roles employers are bringing, how the booking works, what DYPA staff can help with on the day and how the fair fits a Greek job market where unemployment has just fallen to a seasonally adjusted 7.4% in August 2026. Here is what the announcement, the booking page and the latest data show.
What Is Happening at the Divani Caravel on October 10?
DYPA is organising the 58th DYPA Career Day Athens on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Divani Caravel Hotel, Vasileos Alexandrou 2, 16121 Athens. The aim is to let people looking for work talk directly with representatives of companies that are seeking the right staff (translated).
140 companies have already signed up with more than 3,500 jobs across a range of specialties and skill levels, and the total in DYPA's announcement is more than 140 businesses and over 3,500 available positions.
Career Days are part of DYPA's wider set of actions and events, which aim at direct and effective matching of supply and demand in the labour market (translated). Meetings with company staff run throughout the event.
Who Can Attend the 58th DYPA Career Day?
The fair is aimed at unemployed people looking for work and at employees interested in new professional opportunities or wanting to change jobs. People who already have a job are part of that stated audience.
Participation is free for all interested citizens seeking work. During the event, candidates can talk directly with the companies' human resources staff, hand in their CV and discuss the available positions.
The open roles are pitched at candidates with different educational backgrounds, work experience and levels of specialisation.
Participation is free for all interested citizens seeking work. Pre-registration is optional and concerns the choice of arrival time (timeslot) for better service (translated), according to the DYPA registration page on Eventora.
Which Sectors and Jobs Will Employers Bring?
The participating businesses work across a broad range of sectors, such as the food, clothing, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and building materials industries, wholesale and retail trade, construction and technical works, information technology, telecommunications, renewable energy, services, food service, entertainment and education.
The roles listed below are an indicative list from the DYPA announcement, not a complete catalogue, grouped here by trade:
- Technical and production trades. Employers are looking for engineers of various specialties, electricians, mechanical engineers, chemists, refrigeration technicians, food technologists, agronomists, machine operators, welders and technicians, as well as workers in production, warehouses, sales and transport.
- Office, health and creative roles. There are also openings for accountants, administrative staff, nurses, midwives, biologists, beauticians, graphic designers, marketing executives and project managers.
- Technology. IT professionals are wanted too, including application and website developers, software engineers and database administrators.
- Education. The list includes primary school teachers, kindergarten teachers and teachers of various specialties such as foreign languages, mathematics, physics, chemistry and philology.
Neither the registration page nor the announcement names the participating companies or lists salaries. Treat each stand as a first conversation, and ask about pay, contract type and location when you are speaking to the recruiter.
How Do You Book a Time Slot, and What If It Is Full?
Booking is done on DYPA's event page on Eventora, which offers four two-hour arrival windows. The pre-registration slots run 10.00 to 12.00, 12.00 to 14.00, 14.00 to 16.00 and 16.00 to 18.00, and the 10.00 to 12.00 and 12.00 to 14.00 slots are marked sold out, while the 14.00 to 16.00 and 16.00 to 18.00 slots are still listed.
A full slot does not lock you out. If you have not pre-registered or the pre-registration limit has been reached, you can register on site during the event (translated). Pre-registration only chooses your arrival time for better service, so it is a convenience, not a ticket.
The booking page also carries a contact form for the organiser if you have a question about access or timing before the day.
What Should You Bring and How Should You Prepare?
Bring printed copies of your CV. Candidates can hand in their CV to company staff, alongside talking to HR staff and discussing the open positions. Practise a short spoken introduction too, such as an elevator pitch that gets you a second interview.
Because roles range from welders and machine operators to software engineers and database administrators, one generic CV will not fit every stand. Make a version for each field you plan to approach, and lead with the licence, certificate or tool the trade asks for. Before the day, work through a career fair success guide and mark the sectors above that match your experience.
For the Thessaloniki edition last month, visitors were to be able to meet company representatives without needing a pre-set appointment (translated), and employers were to have the chance to hold on-site interviews with candidates and collect CVs to cover their staffing needs. The Athens announcement does not mention on-site interviews, so prepare short answers on your experience and availability in case a recruiter asks.
What Can DYPA Staff Help You With at the Event?
Throughout the day, staff from DYPA and its Unit for Serving Medium and Large Enterprises (MEMME) will brief visitors on the available employment programmes, actions and DYPA counselling services. That gives you a chance to ask in person which DYPA programmes fit your situation.
If you are out of work, registering with DYPA is a separate step from the fair. Registration in the Digital Register of Jobseekers and the digital unemployment card are for unemployed jobseekers aged 15 to 74 who meet the registration conditions. You can do it online through the gov.gr service page with your personal Taxisnet codes, and the card can then be added to the Gov.gr wallet app. In-person registration at a local DYPA office has not been offered since April 15, 2020, when it was suspended because of emergency conditions. Older DYPA usernames and passwords still work for people who already have them.
To register, applicants must be able to work, be available for work and be actively looking for work, and applicants from outside the EU need a valid residence or work permit. People who are already employed and want a different job, at their current company or another one, are not entered in the DYPA Digital Register, even though the fair itself is open to employees who want a change of job. People receiving a pension from the State or from any main or supplementary pension fund are also excluded whatever the amount, except those receiving a survivor's pension, and so are people serving in the armed forces.
A few rules for the digital unemployment card are worth knowing:
- Cost and time. The service is free of charge, with an estimated digital completion time of 34 minutes.
- Validity. The digital card is valid for three months from issue and is renewed within the twenty days before it expires.
- Not a benefit claim. Issuing the card is not an application for regular unemployment benefit, which is a separate procedure.
- If a check goes wrong. If a later check finds you did not meet the conditions for registration, the registration is revoked along with any administrative decisions issued on it, and you have a strict 30-day deadline, counted from when you are notified of those decisions, to file an objection with the KPA2 employment centre you belong to.
During the event, candidates will be able to talk directly with the companies' human resources staff, submit their CV and discuss the available positions and the possibilities for cooperation (translated), according to the Capital.gr report on the announcement.
What Did DYPA Plan for the Thessaloniki Career Day Last Month?
The Athens event follows DYPA's 57th Career Day in Thessaloniki, set for Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 to 18:00 at Warehouse C of the Port of Thessaloniki, on Pier A at Navarchou Votsi 4. Ahead of that two-day event, more than 100 businesses offering over 2,500 available positions were set to take part, in high, medium and low-skill specialties covering all levels of education.
The Thessaloniki programme was also set to let visitors learn about the specialties in highest demand in the labour market and explore prospects in different fields. Employers there were set to present the career opportunities and development prospects they offer, and interest was to be registered through an online platform, with participation free for all. The Athens edition is a single day, with more than 140 businesses and over 3,500 positions in its announcement.
How Does the Fair Fit Greece's Job Market Right Now?
Greek unemployment is lower than it was a year ago. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.4% in August 2026, against 8.8% in August 2025 and 7.9% in July 2026, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) release. That is an 18-year low, Labour Minister Niki Kerameus said, according to the Naftemporiki English report.
Unemployed people numbered 350,800 in August, down 67,181 from August 2025, while employment reached 4,410,105 people, up 85,042 on the year. Month on month, the number of employed people rose by 17,322 compared with July 2026 and the number of unemployed people fell by 25,656. The number of people under 75 outside the labour force, meaning those neither working nor seeking work, was 2,943,171 in August.
The gaps by group are still wide:
- Young people. Unemployment among 15 to 24 year olds was 15.6%, down from 21.8% in August 2025, while the rate for people aged 25 to 74 was 6.9%, down from 8%.
- Women and men. The rate for women stood at 10.3%, down from 11.1%, and for men at 4.9%, down from 6.9%.
- Against Europe. Greece's August rate of 7.4% sits above the euro area rate of 6.4% and the EU rate of 6.1% published by Eurostat.
- Youth against Europe. The youth unemployment rate in August 2026 was 15.4% in the EU and 15.0% in the euro area, against Greece's 15.6% for the under 25s in the same Eurostat table.
What This Means for Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?
A career day lets you talk directly with company HR staff and hand in your CV. The indicative role list is broad, from welders and refrigeration technicians to nurses, midwives and database administrators. Do not treat the headline number as a count of offers, though. The figure counts the jobs the companies are bringing, and a stand visit is a chance to talk to a recruiter, not an offer.
Young people should pay particular attention. Youth unemployment is down to 15.6% from 21.8% a year earlier, but it is still well above the overall rate of 7.4%. If your CV has little work history, read up on dropping off a resume in person before you hand one over at a stand.
Teachers and IT staff have reasons to go as well. The list includes primary school teachers, kindergarten teachers and teachers of various specialties such as foreign languages, mathematics, physics, chemistry and philology, so bring copies of your teaching qualifications alongside your CV. Developers can look for stands hiring application and website developers, software engineers and database administrators, so a CV with links to your past projects is worth bringing.
If you already have a job, the fair is open to employees who want new opportunities or a change of job, and it runs on a Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00.
Here is what we would do:
- Book one of the later slots. The 10.00 and 12.00 windows are marked sold out on the booking page, but on-site registration on the day is still possible.
- Register with DYPA if you are unemployed. It is a separate step from the fair, done online with your Taxisnet codes.
- Print several tailored CVs. Match each one to a trade on the indicative list, and bring certificates for licensed trades.
- Have short answers ready. For the Thessaloniki fair, employers were to be able to hold on-site interviews, so prepare short answers on your experience and availability.
- Ask DYPA staff about programmes. The DYPA and MEMME staff will brief visitors on employment programmes and counselling.
