Bentley Sets 93 Early-Career Places Including R&D, Manufacturing, IT and Sales Roles After the Torcal Launch

Bentley's 2027 Crewe intake has 93 places (49 placements, 15 graduate, 29 apprentice roles). Three placement listings pay £25,500 and close 23 October 2026.

Luxury carmaker Bentley Motors will offer 93 opportunities in its 2027 programme, comprising 29 Apprenticeships, 15 Graduate roles and 49 Industrial Placements, and the roles include research and development, manufacturing, IT, and sales and marketing. The push follows the reveal of Torcal, the company's first fully electric model and fourth model line. Students who want a placement year face a fixed deadline, because Industrial Placement applications for the 2027 programme open on 12 October 2026 until 23 October 2026. For Metaintro readers who are at university, finishing school or looking at a first job in the car industry, this guide covers what the placement listings pay, who can apply, what the listings ask for and when each window opens.

What Is Bentley Offering in Its 2027 Early Careers Intake?

There are three routes into the programme. Apprenticeship schemes combine paid work with qualifications up to degree level, the Graduate programme lasts two years, and Industrial Placements give university students 12 months of practical experience in an area relevant to their studies.

The split across the three routes is uneven. Placements are the biggest group, with 49 12-month industrial placements, alongside 29 apprenticeships and 15 two-year graduate schemes. Placement applications close on 23 October 2026.

All of these trainee roles are in one place. All of Bentley's trainee roles are based at its Crewe Headquarters, in Cheshire, and candidates who live too far away to commute will need to relocate. The site address is Pyms Lane, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 3PL, and Crewe is approximately one hour from Manchester and Liverpool.

Bentley has run structured early careers programmes for more than 40 years. The applications opened alongside the recent launch of a new Bentley careers website, and live vacancies sit on the Bentley search and apply page.

How Does the 2027 Intake Compare With the Previous Round?

The previous round was smaller. In November 2025, Bentley opened 65 vacancies for the 2026 generation of trainees. Of those, 41 were one-year industrial placement roles and 24 were three or four-year apprentice roles.

The shape of the offer has also changed. The 65 positions in that round were all placements and apprenticeships, and ten Industrial Placements from the 2024/2025 cohort will be returning as Graduates the following year. The 2027 round names 15 Graduate roles as a separate group.

In the 2026 round, more than half of the apprentice opportunities were focused around rapidly developing areas such as digital software and artificial intelligence. The 2027 places include Research & Development, Manufacturing, IT and Sales & Marketing positions, with no split by department.

The next era of Bentley will be defined as much by our people as by our products and technologies, Dr. Karen Lange, Member of the Board for People and Culture at Bentley Motors, said, according to the Bentley press release.

Why Is Bentley Hiring Early-Career Talent Now?

Bentley is creating the places following the reveal of Torcal. Bentley unveiled the Torcal at a global debut in London, and the SUV is designed, engineered, and built in Crewe, England. It joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga as the brand's fourth model line.

Bentley links the new trainees to that launch. Dr. Karen Lange tied the new places to Torcal expanding the product portfolio and to the skills and expertise needed to support that growth.

The intake is part of Bentley's Beyond100+ strategy, and comes as the £350 million transformation of its headquarters in Crewe nears completion. The same strategy promises to revolutionise the company to be exclusively electric from 2035.

The Torcal is Bentley's first electric model, with a battery pack of 192 lithium-ion pouch cells running at 800V, for 113 kWh of net capacity, and it is the first Bentley with fully active suspension.

What Do the Industrial Placements Pay and Include?

The Aftersales industrial placement pays a starting salary of £25,500 and runs from Monday 16th August 2027 to Friday 4th August 2028. The same salary appears on the Vehicle Motion placement listing and the Sales and Marketing placement listing.

Students on these three placements get:

The listings also mention masterclasses, development workshops, and social events and placements and rotations across different areas of the business that interest you. Placement students also get the opportunity to be nominated for graduate programme.

Which Placement Roles Are Listed and What Do They Ask For?

Placement listings span many teams. Placement listings posted on 8 Oct 2026 and 9 Oct 2026 include Finance, Legal, Procurement, Logistics, Strategy, Production, Smart Quality, Product Marketing, Aftersales and Sales Performance roles on the Bentley search and apply page. Students can also find opportunities in R&D, Manufacturing, Finance, IT, HR and more.

Each listing sets its own degree list, so read the one you want in full. Three examples:

Working patterns differ by role. The Vehicle Motion role is Hybrid working (Wednesday mandatory on-site), while the Sales and Marketing role asks for a minimum 3 days a week on site. Across the business, the general guideline outside production is 60% on site and 40% remote, and production colleagues are on site five days a week.

When Do Graduate Roles and Apprenticeships Open?

The three routes open at different times:

There is one gap to watch. Graduate applications are still marked closed on Bentley's early careers page, which asks candidates to sign up to job alerts. No separate graduate closing date appears in the Bentley press release, and no graduate listing appears on Bentley's search and apply page.

Late applications are not accepted. Bentley is unable to accept applications after the closing date, so that candidates do not end up at different stages.

Graduate pay and benefits for 2027 are not yet printed on a 2027 listing, so check Bentley's early careers page when graduate roles go live.

One of the things I've enjoyed most about Bentley is that you're encouraged to contribute from day one, Rebecca Scott-Davies, a current Graduate who began with an Industrial Placement, said, according to the Bentley announcement.

What Do Bentley Apprenticeships Pay and Involve?

Bentley offers three apprenticeship levels on the early careers page. An Advanced (L3) apprenticeship is described as equivalent to two A levels passes, a Higher (L4) as equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree, or a Higher National Certificate, and Degree (L6) apprenticeships take three to six years to complete.

No 2027 apprentice listing is live yet, and apprentice vacancies go live in February 2027.

Study time is built in. At Bentley, 20% of your working hours will be used for study, equivalent to one day per week, and that matches the rule in England that apprentices get time for training and study related to your role (at least 20% of your normal working hours). Apprentices do not choose their training provider, because Bentley selects a top training provider suited to your apprenticeship's requirements, and the provider is named in each ad.

Entry grades vary by level. Degree apprenticeships need three A-Levels (or equivalent e.g. BTEC) at grade C or above, and for Higher and Intermediate apprenticeships qualifications can vary, with a minimum of GCSEs at level 3/D in Maths and English. To start any apprenticeship in England, you need to be 16 or over, living in England, not in full-time education.

Who Can Apply, and What About Visas and Sponsorship?

The Graduate Programme needs a 2:1 in a relevant degree subject alongside a pass (Level 4 and above) in Maths and English at GCSE, and placement candidates must be on track to achieve a 2:1 in a relevant degree subject alongside a pass (Level 4 and above) in Maths and English at GCSE. If you fall short, the Talent Acquisition team will discuss options with you, but some roles may not be available.

To be eligible, you must have a legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement or graduate scheme, and Bentley is unable to offer sponsorship for its Early Careers positions. The same listings welcome students who have Settled Status, a Tier 4 Visa, or a Graduate Visa.

The Graduate visa timeline matters for international graduates eyeing the October 2027 graduate start. The visa lasts 2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026, 18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027, and you cannot extend your Graduate visa. A two-year graduate role can run past an 18-month Graduate visa, and Bentley's listings require a legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement or graduate scheme.

How Does the Application and Assessment Process Work?

The application process for each placement runs as follows:

Shortlisted candidates take an online interview and technical exercise, and some apprenticeship roles may add an onsite interview and assessment. Unsuccessful applicants are told by email, but Bentley cannot provide feedback on applications that are not shortlisted for interview.

Pick one role. Bentley recommends applying for only one role, because candidates can only progress to assessment for one position and multiple applications may suggest a lack of focus. For application questions, the team can be reached at talent.acquisition@bentley.co.uk, and nobody else can enquire on your behalf.

Applicants submit a CV and cover letter, so both a cover letter and a first-job resume with no work experience need to be ready before the closing date.

What This Means for Students and Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?

The placement deadline drives everything. Placement applications close on 23 October 2026, so a student who wants a placement year from August 2027 has until then to choose one role, tailor a CV and write a cover letter. Here is how to use the time:

Placements can also lead to graduate jobs. Ten Industrial Placements from the 2024/2025 cohort will be returning as Graduates in 2026, and placement students can be nominated for graduate programme. No 2027 figure for placements returning as graduates appears in Bentley's 2027 release.
