The Kenya Medical Training College has advertised 678 vacancies at its headquarters and campuses, and the single biggest block is 200 Lecturer II (Nursing) posts at job grade KMTC 8. Applications go through the online KMTC recruitment portal and close on Friday, 30th October 2026. This guide is written for nurses, clinical officers, radiographers, physiotherapists, records officers, communications staff and administrators across Kenya who want to know which posts fit them and what the application asks for. For Metaintro readers, the value is in the full advert itself, which sets out every post, grade and document rule, and which we have worked through line by line below.

What Did KMTC Advertise in October 2026?

KMTC's full advert ran in the Government Advertising Agency's MyGov weekly, Issue No. 14/2026-2027, dated October 6, 2026. The statement itself is dated October 5, 2026, and the government's MyGov channel posted the 678 vacancies with the October 30 deadline on October 6.

The college is a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament under the Ministry of Health, founded in 1927, with a role covering training in health disciplines, research and consultancy. It is an ISO 9001:2015 certified institution, with the Kenya Bureau of Standards as its certification body.

KMTC is recruiting for 46 positions totalling 678 vacancies. The posts are tenable at the Kenya Medical Training College, Headquarters and its Campuses, and individual posts are not assigned to named campuses in the vacancy table.

The KMTC Board of Directors seeks to recruit competent, result-oriented, knowledgeable, dynamic, visionary and experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions, according to the KMTC vacancy advert in MyGov.

Which Teaching Posts Are Open, and at What Grade?

Teaching takes the largest share of the advertised jobs. Every Lecturer II post sits at job grade KMTC 8, and the bulk of the advertised positions fall under the Lecturer II category. Here are the Lecturer II posts by discipline, as listed in the vacancy table.

  • Nursing has 200 posts.
  • Clinical Medicine has 105 posts.
  • Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine, Community Health, Health Records and Information Technology, and Radiography and Imaging have 20 posts each.
  • Occupational Therapy, Nutrition and Physiotherapy have 15 posts each, and Medical Engineering has 12.
  • Community Oral Health has 10 posts.
  • Emergency Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Public Health Sciences and Optometry have five posts each.

One senior teaching role is also open, the Senior Lecturer (Dentist), with five vacancies at job grade KMTC 6. The library side has 10 Librarian II posts at KMTC 8.

Salaries are not listed with the posts and grades in the vacancy table. For each post, the full details, job summary and requirements are available at the KMTC website, so read the exact job summary for your discipline before you start the form. If you are weighing a move from bedside practice into teaching, Clinical Education Specialist A Career Guide to Training and Development in Healthcare covers a related hospital-based training role.

Which Clinical and Technical Posts Are on Offer?

A second group covers clinical and technologist posts, all at job grade KMTC 9.

  • Registered Nurse III has 10 posts.
  • Registered Clinical Officer III has five posts.
  • Orthopedic Trauma Assistant III has five posts and Orthopedic Technologist III has two, as listed in the KMTC vacancy table.
  • Pharmaceutical Technologist III, Medical Engineering Technologist III and Medical Laboratory Technologist III have five posts each.
  • Physiotherapy Assistant III has four posts.
  • Assistant Radiographer III/II has five posts and Occupational Therapy Assistant III has one, in the same KMTC table.

KMTC campuses are located adjacent to health facilities where students undertake clinical practice.

Which Administrative and Support Jobs Are Included?

The non-teaching posts cover human resource management, ICT, legal, administration, housekeeping, office administration, corporate communication, maintenance, records management, security, planning and supply chain management. Three senior roles are included, two Assistant Director, Human Resource Management posts at KMTC 4, one Senior Assistant Director, ICT at KMTC 3, and one Principal Legal Officer at KMTC 5.

The larger blocks are in office, communications and records work, as set out in the KMTC vacancy table.

  • Assistant Office Administrator III, Corporate Communication Assistant III and Records Management Assistant III have 20 posts each.
  • Administrative Officer II has 15 posts.
  • Office Administrator II, Assistant Housekeeper III and Supply Chain Management Officer II have 10 posts each.
  • Human Resource Management Assistant III has eight posts, Housekeeper II and Records Management Officer II have five each, and Corporate Communication Officer II has four, in the same KMTC table.
  • Information Communication Technology Officer II, Maintenance Assistant III and Security Assistant III have three posts each, while Maintenance Officer II and Planning Officer II have two each, in the KMTC vacancy table.

The posts carry job grades ranging from KMTC Grade 3 to KMTC Grade 9, depending on the position and level of responsibility.

How Do You Apply Through the KMTC Portal?

Applications are made online only through the KMTC recruitment portal, and no hard copy applications will be accepted. For any inquiries, email recruitment@kmtc.ac.ke. You can reach the portal from the KMTC careers page link to the online application portal, and on the portal you can sign up for a profile, log in and open the Apply for Jobs section. When you email a question, include your ID Number and full name.

If the portal's Active Adverts page still says there are no job vacancies at the moment, keep checking it, since applications are only made online through the portal before the Friday, 30th October 2026 close. On the KMTC recruitment portal, applicants select the relevant vacancy before completing and submitting the required application details. Each post in the advert carries its own vacancy reference number, so note the one for your post before you select the relevant vacancy on the portal.

These rules apply to every applicant.

What Documents Will Shortlisted and Successful Candidates Need?

Documents come at two stages, interview and before the offer letter. At interview, shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates, as well as transcripts.

Before an offer letter is issued, the successful candidate must provide clearances in compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Four certificates of clearance and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct are required.

The clearances are needed before issuance of the offer letter, so starting them early is one step you can take now. The same clearances and Certificate of Good Conduct were required in KMTC's September advert, so if you got any of these for the September advert, check that each is still valid, since the October advert asks for a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.

What Have Earlier KMTC Lecturer Adverts Asked For?

The detailed requirements for the October posts are on the KMTC website. A June 2026 drive for 76 Lecturer II posts, all at Job Grade KMTC 8, shows what an earlier Lecturer II advert asked for, and the October job summaries on the KMTC website are the ones that apply.

That June drive offered permanent and pensionable employment to qualified health professionals. For most roles it asked for a relevant bachelor's degree in their field or a KMTC Higher Diploma in the relevant specialty, along with at least 6 years of practice. Candidates also had to be registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable, and KMTC sought professionals with computer proficiency.

Terms of service and experience years are not in the October vacancy table, so check both in the job summary on the KMTC website before you apply. If you hold a qualification that was still pending at the closing date, leave it off, since certificates not obtained by closure of the advert should not be included.

How Does This Advert Compare With the June and September Drives?

Two earlier drives from this year put the October list in context. In June, KMTC advertised 76 Lecturer II positions across eight disciplines, with Nursing taking 30 posts, and that window closed on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

In September, KMTC advertised 89 vacancies across its headquarters and campuses, including five Senior Lecturer, Pharmacy posts at job grade KMTC 6 and eight Lecturer II, Mortuary Science posts at KMTC 8. That window closed on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The October list's senior teaching post is the Senior Lecturer (Dentist), not the September Senior Lecturer, Pharmacy post, and it has no Mortuary Science lecturer line in its 46 listed positions. Check the October table for your own discipline, and apply against the vacancy reference number printed for that post, rather than relying on an earlier advert.

The Kenya Medical Training College is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to implementing Affirmative Action, according to the KMTC vacancy advert in MyGov.

Where Would New KMTC Staff Work?

The posts are tenable at the headquarters and its campuses, and the college has 92 Campuses spread in 46 of the 47 counties in the country. The college offers 126 Medical Courses across 18 Academic Departments and 7 Faculties. The training curriculum is reviewed after every three years, and the training curricula across Campuses is unified. The student population currently stands at over 80,000 as of March 2026, and in 2025 the college released 22,748 graduates into the health sector. Graduate numbers were 22,695 and 21,261 in 2023 and 2024, respectively, and the student population was 22,000 in 2013 and 33,000 as of March 2017, a rise the college credits to its expansion program. The college has admission desks in all Campuses and partners with the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service on admissions. All KMTC training programmes are skills-oriented, and all campuses have Wi-Fi internet connections.

In September, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service reopened applications for KMTC diploma and certificate programmes for the September 2026 intake.

Applications are encouraged from Youth, Women, Persons with Disability, and Minorities with the requisite qualifications. KMTC is an equal opportunity employer committed to implementing affirmative action.

What This Means for Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?

Our take is that this advert is a real opening for Kenyan nurse educators, with 200 Lecturer II (Nursing) posts on the October table against 30 Nursing posts in the June drive. The same advert also has 20 Records Management Assistant III, 10 Assistant Housekeeper III and 10 Supply Chain Management Officer II posts.

Here is what we would do.
