Suzlon Group plans to invest Rs 5.5 billion in three AI-powered wind blade factories in Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and the new plants are expected to create 3,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs. This is an update, not a fresh plan. The three factories were reported in December 2025, with two units proposed in Gujarat and Karnataka and the third location still to be finalised. What is new in October is the job and spending figures, and Tamil Nadu is now named alongside Gujarat and Karnataka as one of the three states. The separate Tuticorin plant is planned for a 40-acre site along the Tuticorin-Melakarandai National Highway. For Metaintro readers who build, inspect or maintain industrial parts, this guide separates direct jobs from indirect ones, explains what the factories will make, and shows what you can do before any vacancy is posted.

What Is New in Suzlon's Blade Factory Plan, and What Was Already Known?

The outline is not new. In December 2025, Suzlon was reported to be planning three new AI-enabled smart blade manufacturing factories, and at the time the location for the third facility was yet to be decided.

Reports of the Tuticorin plant came first, on October 8, 2026. The company plans a new wind-blade manufacturing facility in southern Tamil Nadu, with an investment of around Rs 2 billion, and the plant is expected to add more than 500 direct jobs and approximately 1,500 indirect employment opportunities, Suzlon co-founder Girish Tanti told the Times of India.

The three-plant totals came on October 11, with the money and job totals for all three plants. Of the overall spend, the Tamil Nadu facility will receive Rs 2 billion, while Rs 3.5 billion will be allocated to the proposed plants in Gujarat and Karnataka. Tanti said the projects will be funded through internal accruals and are expected to be set up by 2027.

Two details come from the December plan. In that plan, two of these manufacturing facilities are proposed to be established in Gujarat and Karnataka, and the factories were set to use advanced automation, robotics, digital workflows, and monitoring systems. No exact town has been published for the Gujarat or Karnataka plant in the October coverage.

How Many Jobs Are Planned, and Which of Them Are Direct?

Read the job figures in two layers. Across the three plants, the expectation is around 3,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect employment opportunities. For the separate Tuticorin plant, indirect employment may emerge through transportation, warehousing, component supply and other industrial services.

The larger headline number mixes both groups. The expansion is expected to create 15,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The separate Tuticorin plant has its own figures. It is likely to generate around 2,000 employment opportunities, including 500 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs. The company expects the new facility to add more than 500 direct jobs.

Tanti said nearly 80% of the expected employment would benefit rural communities.

The new plants are expected to create 3,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs, with 80 per cent of the employment linked to the projects expected to be in rural areas, according to the BW Businessworld report.

Where Is the Separately Reported Tuticorin Plant, and What Will It Make?

The separate Tuticorin plant is planned for a 40-acre site along the Tuticorin-Melakarandai National Highway, and it is expected to become operational by early 2027.

The plant will have an annual production capacity of nearly 1 GW and will manufacture blades for Suzlon's latest S175 wind turbine, which has a capacity of 5 MW, on two manufacturing lines.

The S175, launched in June, has a 175-meter rotor, a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower, and a 247.5-meter blade tip height, and Suzlon credits the turbine's performance partly to its carbon girder blade technology. The S175 launch followed its commissioning at Vijayanagar, Karnataka.

The project is not final in every respect. Suzlon has held preliminary discussions with the Tamil Nadu government, and the company has not announced further details on land acquisition, construction contracts or the project's investment schedule beyond the planned commissioning timeline. The highway site is also expected to give the plant flexibility to serve export markets, Tanti said. Tanti described the proposed plant as a high-technology facility that would use digital systems to improve productivity, workplace safety and performance.

Why Do Reports Disagree on 18 or 20 Factories?

Two different totals are in circulation, and both come from coverage of the same plan. With the three new plants, Suzlon expects to have 18 factories in its manufacturing network.

The December 2025 figure was higher. The expansion would raise Suzlon's national manufacturing footprint to 20 facilities, and the plants would increase Suzlon's total facilities to 20.

The December plan also included upgrading all 15 existing units with similar digital capabilities. The two totals are not reconciled in any of this coverage, so treat the network size as unconfirmed.

What Does a Running Suzlon Blade Factory Look Like?

Suzlon already operates five blade factories in Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule and Anantapur.

The Jaisalmer plant has already grown. In its first quarter results for the 2027 financial year, published in July, Suzlon doubled its rotor blade manufacturing facility's capacity in Jaisalmer from 630 MW to 1,260 MW by adding two additional manufacturing lines. The expanded site now is spread over 30 acres and will give employment to 1200+ people.

This facility has the capability to make both S144 and S175 rotor blades, according to Suzlon's first quarter results release.

What Will AI Actually Do Inside These Factories?

Across its manufacturing operations, AI-enabled vision systems are being used to detect product defects in real time, while digital quality and safety platforms are intended to improve manufacturing standards and workplace monitoring.

Suzlon's existing blade manufacturing facilities use automation, and the company is integrating manufacturing execution systems, enterprise resource planning, Internet of Things technologies and robotics into nacelle production. The new blade plants will use artificial intelligence, robotics and automation to monitor production quality, identify defects and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Larger turbines often require longer blades and more sophisticated manufacturing processes, increasing the importance of specialised facilities and advanced quality-control systems, in EQ Mag Pro's assessment.

How Big Is Suzlon in Tamil Nadu Already?

The company currently employs about 2,000 people directly in Tamil Nadu and supports around 1,500 indirect jobs, and it currently supports around 3,500 direct and indirect jobs there in total.

Tamil Nadu has been an important market since the mid-1990s, when the company began operations in the Muppandal wind energy cluster, and Suzlon has invested in the state over the past three decades.

Suzlon's existing manufacturing presence in the region includes a 66-acre integrated facility in Puducherry producing wind turbine generators and nacelle covers, along with a major forging facility in Coimbatore.

Tamil Nadu offers several advantages for wind energy manufacturing, including an established wind power industry, an experienced workforce and a network of industrial suppliers, in EQ Mag Pro's assessment. The separate Tuticorin plant's location places it within a region with established industrial and transport links, and further progress will depend on the company's discussions with the Tamil Nadu government and the subsequent development of the 40-acre site.

Tamil Nadu is seeking to strengthen its position as one of India's leading renewable-energy states, supported by its wind and solar resources and a substantial industrial base, and the state's electricity demand is also being driven by industrial activity.

Why Is Suzlon Expanding Blade Capacity Now?

Suzlon seeks to expand production capacity and meet rising domestic demand for wind energy equipment. The new plants will sit closer to wind project sites to improve logistics and accelerate the execution of the company's order book, which stood at around 6 GW as of March 2026. The additional manufacturing capacity is intended to help the company execute these orders more efficiently, and the expansion will also support domestic manufacturing of wind energy equipment as demand for renewable power grows.

Suzlon's cumulative orderbook of ~6.1 GW with 84% orders from PSU and C&I sectors was reported in its July results, along with highest-ever Q1 deliveries at 506 MW.

Local production can help reduce exposure to international supply chain disruptions, create industrial capabilities and retain more economic value within the country, in EQ Mag Pro's assessment.

The longer plan is called Suzlon 2.0. In June, the company set out that by FY31 it aims to expand annual renewable energy sales fourfold to 10 GW, grow its orderbook to 15 GW, and scale its Asset Under Management (AUM) fourfold to 70 GW. Suzlon also plans to establish a BESS manufacturing facility by 2027, a separate battery storage project. These are company goals, not results.

How Can You Find Suzlon Jobs and Prepare for Them?

Start with the employer's own page. The Suzlon careers page describes training and career programmes rather than listing vacancies, and none of the October coverage names openings for these plants, so treat any post naming exact pay or job titles for these plants as unconfirmed.

The careers page does describe the company's training routes. Suzlon describes its training drive as "India's largest green skill development programme" and says it is "preparing 12,000 professionals for the future renewable energy workforce", a training figure separate from the plant job counts. Suzlon also offers 1Learn, which offers certification courses and upskilling resources, and the Ignite Programme for women across technical, operational and business functions.

The separate Tuticorin plant's approximately 2,000 jobs are expected to generate employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, logistics and supporting services. For the separate Tuticorin plant, direct jobs could include positions in blade production, quality assurance, materials handling, plant operations and technical management, and training programmes in composite materials, industrial automation, quality testing and advanced manufacturing may help prepare workers, in EQ Mag Pro's assessment. That is a forecast, not a Suzlon job list. Wind turbine blades are among the most technically demanding components of a wind energy system, requiring specialised materials, precision engineering and stringent quality controls, in EQ Mag Pro's assessment. The size of the hiring is not fixed either, because the scale and distribution of these opportunities will depend on the facility's final configuration, production capacity and implementation schedule.

What This Means for Job Seekers in Rural India, and What Should You Do Next?

The plants are expected to be set up by 2027, Suzlon has held preliminary discussions with the Tamil Nadu government on the separate Tuticorin plant, and the job totals are expectations.
