Vantive is investing $100 million to expand its Mountain Home, Arkansas operations, and the company plans to create up to 175 new jobs over the next four years, starting with 75 in the first year. The new hires will fill a range of high-skill, technical roles, including engineering, at a plant that makes the sets used in home dialysis, which ship to patients around the world. The announcement came on Tuesday, October 27, with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joining state and local officials at the facility. For Metaintro readers in north-central Arkansas, or anyone with plant maintenance or engineering skills, this guide covers how fast the jobs arrive, which roles are posted now, what some of them pay, and how to get ready.

What Did Vantive Announce in Mountain Home?

The headline is a new capital investment plus a hiring plan. Vantive is announcing a new $100 million investment to expand its operations in Mountain Home, Arkansas, with the stated aim that it will modernize its facilities. The event at the plant on North Highway 201 came together on short notice, with employees asked to hold their cameras while the governor’s motorcade made its way to the building, and the governor was joined by Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Clint O’Neal. The plant is not new to the area. Vantive has been in the community more than 60 years and employs roughly 800 people today. CEO Chris Toth said the new roles will be specialized technical and engineering jobs.

How Fast Will the 175 Jobs Arrive?

This is a multi-year hiring plan, not a batch of openings this week. Vantive will be adding approximately 175 employees over four years, including 75 new employees expected to be added in the coming year. State officials framed the same timeline more loosely, with new jobs coming over the next few years. Clint O’Neal described the package as $100 million last year, $100 million more to come and 175 jobs over the next few years.

For job seekers, the useful split is the first year. If hiring follows the plan, the first wave of 75 new employees is the near-term opportunity, with the rest spread over the following years. Neither the Vantive release nor the state announcement gives a month-by-month schedule, a split by department or a start date for the first new hires.

As demand for our therapies continues to grow, this expansion will increase our capacity, create new jobs, and help ensure that patients worldwide have access to the home dialysis products they rely on, CEO Chris Toth said, according to the Vantive release on GlobeNewswire.

What Will the $100 Million Pay For?

The money goes into a range of capital expenditures for the Mountain Home site. The investment covers a new tubing line, new sterilizers, new compressors, a new chemistry lab, and other expansion projects. The new money adds to the $100 million in past investments that were made over the last few years and completed in 2025.

The plant matters to the wider company. Mountain Home is a critical part of Vantive’s global supply chain, serving as a key manufacturing site for essential components of home dialysis therapies. CEO Chris Toth said the sets made at the plant go across the globe to all of the different locations where patients are receiving care.

Who Is Vantive, and How Is It Linked to Baxter?

Vantive is the kidney care business that used to sit inside Baxter International. Under a definitive agreement between Baxter International Inc. and funds managed by global investment firm Carlyle, Carlyle agreed to acquire Baxter’s Kidney Care segment, to be named Vantive, for $3.8 billion. At the time of that deal, the business had more than 23,000 employees globally and had 2023 revenues of $4.5 billion.

The split showed up on the ground in Mountain Home. Vantive became an independent company in early 2025 after the private equity firm Carlyle bought Baxter International’s kidney care business, and the plant, which Baxter opened decades ago, was divided between the two companies, with Vantive taking the larger share and the main entrance.

Today the company describes itself as a newly independent healthcare company building on a 70-year kidney care history. Its business covers products and services for peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis and organ support therapies, and its people, solutions and services deliver over 1 million touchpoints each day to patients around the world.

Both Engineering Intern listings, the first and the second, give an estimated base salary of 39,424.00 - 49,280.00 annually, and the actual offer may be more or less based on market data and other factors. The internship is open to students Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing, chemical or biomedical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

The other maintenance listings, such as the Maintenance Tech posting, and the Utility Technician listing do not print a wage, so a national benchmark helps. The median annual wage for industrial machinery mechanics, machinery maintenance workers and millwrights was $64,100 in May 2025, in figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In manufacturing, the median for this group was $65,220 in May 2025. Across the group nationally, the lowest 10 percent earned less than $45,760, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $94,530. Why Is Demand for Home Dialysis Supplies Growing?

The products made in Mountain Home serve a large group of patients. In the United States, more than 808,000 people are living with end-stage kidney disease, with 68% on dialysis and 32% with a kidney transplant, according to United States Renal Data System 2023 Annual Data Report figures published by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

At the end of 2021, 14.1% of all patients undergoing dialysis performed dialysis at home, and the share doing home dialysis increased approximately 45% between 2011 and 2021.

Arkansas has a direct stake. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences estimates that roughly 15% of adults in the state have chronic kidney disease. UAMS nephrologist Dr. Nithin Karakala said that 80 to 85 percent of all patients who need dialysis go to a dialysis unit, and that people on home dialysis generally have better outcomes and better quality of life.

Vantive is working to make dialysis easier to start, manage and sustain by enabling more patients around the world to receive therapy at home.

How Can You Get Ready for a Technical Role at the Plant?

The postings spell out the skills. The Maintenance Tech role covers electrical systems up to 480v, 3ph, and candidates Must be able to read electrical and pneumatic diagrams, knowledge of hydraulics a plus. The physical side is listed too, since workers Must be able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders.

Industrial machinery mechanics and machinery maintenance workers usually need at least a year of on-the-job training, and some mechanics and millwrights complete a 2-year associate degree program in industrial maintenance, which may include courses such as welding, hydraulics and pneumatics. Employment in this group is projected to grow 14 percent from 2025 to 2035, with about 51,900 openings projected each year, on average, over the decade.

Students have a separate door. The Engineering Intern role offers Real-world experience in medical device manufacturing, and interns Assist with equipment validation, process qualification, and documentation activities. Its preferred skills include CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Elsewhere in Arkansas, Hanwha is planning a munitions manufacturing campus at Pine Bluff Arsenal. For the licensed side of plant work, trade licenses usually come from the state rather than the federal government.

What This Means for Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?

The clearest openings so far are for people who already keep plant machinery running, since the Mountain Home job search files five of its eight city listings under Facility Maintenance. The investment buys new equipment such as a new tubing line and new sterilizers, and the Maintenance Tech posting already asks for work on PLC systems, robots and pneumatic systems. Early applicants would join before most of the planned hires, and the senior Maintenance Engineering Technician posting lists training new maintenance technicians as part of the job.

The near-term move is to apply to the roles already posted rather than wait for a new batch.

Lacey Kaelani, Metaintro's CEO, puts it this way: When a plant buys new machines, it needs people who can keep them running. Getting in early means you learn the new line from day one instead of catching up later.
