Recoding America

Non-profit Organizations

Recoding America is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit working to strengthen the ability of American government to deliver better outcomes. It is the shared name for two sister organizations, Recoding America Fund (a 501(c)(3)) and Recoding America Action (a 501(c)(4)), that build and fund the field of state capacity: the systems, people and operating model that determine whether government can execute on its goals. Through the Recoding America Fund, a pooled philanthropic fund, it makes grants to organizations working on structural reform at the federal and state level, and it works across party lines by design. Co-founded by Jennifer Pahlka, author of Recoding America, it is a time-bound effort running through 2032.
