How to Use the Resume Builder

How the Resume Builder Works

The Metaintro resume builder isn’t a separate form or template editor — it’s a guided conversation with Marsh, Metaintro’s AI. You answer simple questions about your background, and Marsh builds a polished, professional resume for you in real time.

You can see exactly what’s being created as you go. The conversation appears on one side of your Thread, and a live resume preview appears on the other. Every response you give is reflected instantly in the document, so there are no surprises at the end.

How to Start Generating a Resume

  1. Open a new Thread (or continue in an existing one) from your Metaintro homepage.
  2. Tap the + button next to the chat bar at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select "Generate Resume" from the menu that appears. You’ll see the option labeled "Answer a few simple questions and we’ll build you a polished resume tailored to your experience and the roles you want."
  4. Marsh enters Generating Resume Mode — a banner will confirm you’re in resume mode.
  5. Start answering the questions. Marsh will guide you step by step.

That’s it. No forms, no templates to choose from, no separate interface to learn.

What to Expect During the Conversation

Once you’re in Generating Resume Mode, Marsh will guide you through the key sections of a strong resume:

  • Your target role and industry — so the resume is tailored to what you’re applying for.
  • Professional summary — a concise overview of your profile.
  • Work experience — your roles, responsibilities, and achievements. Marsh may ask follow-ups like “What were your 2–3 biggest wins there?” to pull out stronger details.
  • Education and certifications — degrees, courses, and credentials.
  • Skills — both technical and soft skills relevant to your goals.
  • Optional sections — projects, volunteer work, languages, publications, and more.

The experience feels like a conversation, not a form. You answer naturally, and Marsh turns it into polished resume content.

Watching Your Resume Build in Real Time

As you respond, your resume builds in a preview pane next to the chat. You can:

  • See updates instantly. New sections and bullet points appear as soon as you reply.
  • Flag anything to change. If something doesn’t feel right, just say so in the Thread and Marsh will adjust it.
  • Work at your own pace. Your progress is saved, so you can leave and come back anytime.

The preview pane includes four tabs — Preview, Edit, Design, and Filters — so you can switch between viewing, editing, and styling your resume.

Editing Your Resume Manually (Edit Tab)

If you prefer to edit directly, use the Edit tab above the preview.

This gives you a structured form with all sections of your resume:

  • Contact & Summary — name, title, email, phone, portfolio, and summary.
  • Location — city, state/region, and country.
  • Profiles — links to professional profiles.
  • Experience — company, role, dates, and bullet points.
  • Education, Skills, and other sections you’ve added.

Changes made here appear instantly in the Preview. You can switch between chatting with Marsh and editing manually at any time.

This is useful when you want to:

  • Fix a detail (like dates or company names).
  • Add something quickly without continuing the conversation.
  • Refine wording exactly how you want it.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Answer naturally. The more specific you are, the stronger the output. Marsh handles the polish.
  • Include metrics. “Increased revenue by 30%” is stronger than “helped grow revenue.”
  • Mention your target roles. This helps tailor the resume effectively.
  • Ask for edits directly. For example: “Make the summary more concise.”
  • Upload an existing resume if you have one. It helps Marsh start faster.

Downloading Your Resume

When you’re satisfied, click Download above the preview. Your resume is exported as a PDF and saved to your device — ready to use.

The downloaded version matches the Preview exactly, including layout, formatting, and design.

Editing a Resume Later

To update your resume, reopen the Thread where you created it and continue the conversation. Ask Marsh to make changes, and the preview updates instantly.

You can also create a new Thread to build a separate version tailored to a specific role.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need to upload a resume before using the builder?

No. You can start from scratch — Marsh will ask everything it needs. If you already have a resume, uploading it can speed things up.

Q. How long does it take to build a resume?

Most users finish in 10–20 minutes, depending on experience. You can pause anytime and return later — your progress is saved.

Q. Can I create multiple resumes?

Yes. Each Thread holds one resume, so you can create multiple Threads for different roles. For example, one for product roles and another for marketing — each with its own version ready to download.
