Description
The 1st Class Outfitter assembles and maintains ships by integrating vessel components, installing decks, bulkheads, steel plates, plumbing, electrical systems, engines, steering mechanisms, and propellers, and cutting or shaping metal parts according to engineering drawings. The role requires proficiency with shipbuilding tools, blueprint interpretation, mechanical-system installation, and accurate measurement, along with the ability to work in confined spaces, heights, humid and noisy environments, and varying weather conditions. A high school diploma or equivalent and technical training or certification in welding, fabrication, or shipbuilding are preferred.
