The Regional Communications Operator I is an entry-level position in the Broward County Sheriff's Office Regional Communications Division. The role trains and supports call-takers handling emergency and non-emergency police, fire, medical, and other public-safety calls through telephone, text, and other communications devices. Training includes classroom instruction, IAED protocols, CAD and VIPER equipment, and on-the-job training before independent call-taking. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, documented clerical or customer-service experience, and completion of required certifications and radio training; it is scheduled for shift work including weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency activations.
