The E.D. Access Representative greets and registers patients, activates accounts, obtains consent and insurance information, verifies eligibility, collects deductibles and co-pays, routes patients, escorts them to ancillary departments, and maintains confidentiality. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, typing of 35 words per minute, knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance, and Basic Life Support within 90 days; a medical terminology course and one year of customer-service or medical-office experience are preferred. The position includes bi-weekly standby shifts and travel between system facilities and off-site locations, with a starting rate of $16.00.
