The State of Maryland is recruiting an Accountant Trainee for the Central Payroll Bureau in Annapolis, Maryland. The trainee will learn to administer payroll-related financial activities across three payroll systems, manage payroll disbursements, process transactions in R*STARS, reconcile payroll and tax accounts, resolve discrepancies, complete year-end reporting, and file federal, state, and unemployment wage reports. The position is full-time, telework-eligible, and pays $59,305 to $76,725 per year, with potential growth to $93,533. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent accounting education; no prior experience is required. Microsoft Excel, Workday, and R*STARS experience are preferred.
