The Advanced Practice Critical Care Nurse (FP-C Transitioning to RN) at Allegheny Health Network's LifeFlight unit is responsible for providing professional advanced emergency medical and critical care to ill or injured patients during transport. This role involves collaborating with a Paramedic partner and medical control, ensuring patient-focused care according to established protocols and Pennsylvania prehospital regulations. Key responsibilities include critical care life support, establishing care plans for acute illness/injury management, safe patient transport, and active participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Five years of recent Emergency/ICU/Flight Registered Nurse experience within a level 1 or level 2 trauma center, or tertiary center.
Two years of AHN Critical Care Transport RN experience.
If transitioning from LifeFlight FP-C to RN, equivalent of five years of RN experience.
Must have a minimum of two years of RN ICU experience at an ICU within a level 1 or level 2 trauma center or tertiary center.
Two years of LifeFlight paramedic experience equates to one year of Registered Nurse experience, with a maximum of six years of paramedic experience equating to three years of Registered Nurse experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Active involvement with Quality Improvement initiatives.
Participation in LifeFlight quality assurance activities such as chart audits, case reviews, and monthly Team and Safety meetings.
Completion of all annual education requirements and training.
Maintenance of transport readiness by managing medication and supply inventory, conducting shift checks, and restocking equipment/supplies.
Medication storage maintained within established safety and security controls.
