The Advanced Practice Critical Care Nurse (FP-C) at Allegheny Health Network's LifeFlight unit is responsible for providing professional advanced emergency medical and critical care to ill or injured patients during transport. This involves collaborating with a Paramedic partner and medical control, ensuring patient-focused care according to established protocols and Pennsylvania prehospital standards. The role emphasizes active participation in Quality Improvement initiatives and maintains transport readiness.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Five (5) years recent Emergency/ICU/Flight Registered Nurse experience within a level 1 or level 2 trauma center, or tertiary center.
Two years of AHN Critical Care Transport RN experience.
LifeFlight FP-C transitioning to RN must have the equivalent of 5 years RN experience.
Minimum of 2 years of RN ICU experience at an ICU within a level 1 or level 2 trauma center or tertiary center.
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to provide critical care life support and medical care according to established standards and protocols and PA DOH regulations.
Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to establish an appropriate plan of care to safely transport acutely ill or injured patients.
Ability to ensure safe transport of patients and monitor/promote safety of self and others while working in and around the aircraft/emergency vehicles.
Demonstrating positive professional appearance, language, and conduct within the AHN core behaviors and standards of conduct.
Active participation in LifeFlight quality assurance activities including chart audits, case reviews, and monthly Team and Safety meetings, and actively participates in LEAN principles/activities.
Completion of all annual education requirements and training.
Maintaining expected state of transport readiness by managing medication and supply inventory in the aircraft, completing shift checks, and restocking equipment and supplies.
Medication storage maintained within established safety and security controls.
Performance of other assigned duties.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam and meet height and weight requirements.
