First National is hiring a full-time AI Engineer, Application Development in Toronto to design, build, test, and improve AI-enabled residential mortgage workflows. The role focuses on agentic workflows, document and policy intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation, deterministic rules and calculations, tool integration, human-in-the-loop review, and model quality. The engineer will develop production-quality Python, SQL, FastAPI, and cloud-based services, integrate AI capabilities with mortgage systems, create evaluation datasets, support UAT and production releases, and implement privacy, security, observability, and cost controls. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least five years of progressive software, machine learning, data, applied AI, or related technology experience.
