SpaceX is hiring an AI Engineer, Special Programs to design, build, optimize, and deploy mission-critical AI solutions for U.S. federal agencies. The role focuses on integrating frontier models with government systems, developing AI-powered software, benchmarking and evaluating models, tuning and fine-tuning models, analyzing logs and outputs, and building secure internal tools. Candidates need a relevant bachelor's degree, at least one year of software engineering experience, and an active Top-Secret or Top-Secret SCI; government experience, Python or TypeScript, secure API design, machine learning deployment, and infrastructure-as-code expertise are preferred. The position may require extended hours, weekends, and up to 20% travel to government sites, with a base salary of $125,000 to $220,000 per year and medical, vision, and dental coverage.
