Duolingo is hiring an AI Research Engineer for its Monetization team to develop and deploy bandit models and large-scale neural network models, including feature engineering, training data development, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, strategic product and business decision-making, mentoring, and delivering scalable machine learning solutions. Candidates should have proven AI research experience, strong applied large-model training and fine-tuning experience, an advanced degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. The base salary range is $220,800–$331,200 USD, supplemented by equity compensation.
