Prolific is hiring an AI Research Engineer to lead independent research in AI evaluation, alignment, and synthetic data generation. The role involves designing evaluation frameworks for LLMs and agent systems, conducting rigorous experiments, building scalable research infrastructure, applying machine-learning engineering practices, publishing research, and collaborating with ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams. Candidates need at least five years of AI/ML-focused engineering experience, research experience, production AI-systems experience, and expertise in LLM evaluation, alignment, model optimization, fine-tuning, adapters, quantization, and distillation.
