Applied Materials is hiring a full-time AI Research Scientist - Algorithm in Chennai to develop, pretrain, fine-tune, and align large language models and generative models for scientific and materials science applications. The role focuses on post-training methods, evaluation, generative approaches for materials discovery and hardware design, scientific dataset and benchmark development, cross-functional collaboration, research publication, and mentoring. Candidates should have an MS or Ph.D. in a relevant field and hands-on experience with LLM pretraining, fine-tuning, alignment, evaluation, Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, and scientific data.
