Description

Lexical Intelligence is hiring an experienced, full-time Artificial Intelligence Solutions Engineer to design, develop, operationalize, and monitor AI-driven decision-support applications for a federal client in Bethesda, Maryland. The role covers data preparation, model integration, evaluation, deployment, lightweight application development, foundation-model integration, and scalable infrastructure, with a focus on biomedical information and large-scale datasets. Candidates need 8–10 years of relevant experience, strong Python and AI/ML development skills, cloud and container expertise, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. The position is hybrid with remote work options subject to approval.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative area
Required Previous Experiences: 8–10 years of relevant experience in AI/ML development, solution deployment, data engineering, and cloud environments
Experience developing and deploying AI or machine learning applications with large datasets and modern AI tooling
Experience designing and deploying AI solutions end-to-end, including model integration into applications or shared infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or advanced Master's degree in a relevant scientific or quantitative discipline
Experience supporting NIH or other federal biomedical research organizations
Experience applying large language models to scientific analysis, information extraction, summarization, or question answering
Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search
Experience evaluating AI systems using benchmark-driven and human-in-the-loop methodologies
Experience analyzing scientific publications, grants, patents, clinical trials, or large-scale datasets
Familiarity with MLOps practices, including model versioning, monitoring, and production lifecycle management
Experience building AI prototypes or pilot applications in shared or enterprise environments
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in regulated or federal environments
Exposure to modern data platforms and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Databricks
Strong communication skills for explaining AI concepts and analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders
Experience working in cross-functional or product-oriented teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
