The Washington Post is hiring an Applied Machine Learning Scientist 2 to build AI/ML systems that improve reader discovery, understanding, and engagement. The role focuses on personalization, recommendations, ranking, user modeling, experimentation, and generative AI-powered content discovery, working across the machine-learning lifecycle from data exploration and model development to deployment, monitoring, and evaluation. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, at least two years of applied machine-learning experience, Python and an ML framework, and experience with large-scale datasets and ranking or recommendation systems.
