Amazon Web Services is hiring an Applied Scientist to lead capacity modelling for Amazon WorkSpaces. The role owns the scientific strategy for forecasting demand, optimizing compute, storage, and networking resources, developing causal and probabilistic models, building simulation and scenario-planning systems, integrating machine learning with operations research, and establishing production evaluation and monitoring systems. It is a high-impact individual contributor role requiring at least three years of business-model-building experience, a PhD or master's degree with four or more years of relevant experience, research or publication experience, programming experience, and experience in algorithms, optimization, data mining, distributed computing, or high-performance computing. The position is based in Seattle, Washington, with a base salary of 142,800 to 193,200 USD annually.
