Description
A substitute teacher at the Alabama School for the Blind provides classroom instruction and assumes the absent teacher’s duties when full-time staff are unavailable. The role also supervises student behavior during class, lunch, and other activities, follows AIDB policies and applicable laws, maintains confidentiality, stays alert, handles emergencies calmly, and follows written and verbal instructions. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and either hold or be able to obtain an Alabama Substitute License or hold a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate. A fingerprint background check is required upon offer. Payroll rates are $12.24 per hour for Alabama Substitute License holders and $20.40 per hour for Alabama Teacher Certification holders or AIDB retired teachers with a substitute license.
