Description
The University of Florida is hiring an Assistant/Associate Professor of Postharvest Physiology in the Horticultural Sciences Department. This 12-month tenure-accruing position is 30% teaching and 70% research at the Gainesville main campus, with opportunities for Extension activities. The faculty member will develop an extramurally funded, nationally recognized program in postharvest biology and biochemistry, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students and postdoctoral associates, and research postharvest physiology, quality, shelf life, and technological solutions for fresh fruits and vegetables. A doctorate in horticultural science, plant physiology, or a closely related discipline is required, along with a strong publication record, communication skills, and extramural funding experience; postdoctoral experience in postharvest physiology and biochemistry is desirable.
