Description
The City of San Diego is hiring an Assistant Engineer – Mechanical to perform professional-level mechanical engineering duties under close supervision, including plan-checking for mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, water, gas, sanitary piping, energy conservation, noise control, and electrical codes; reviewing mechanical adequacy; preparing specifications; assisting field inspectors; and supporting engineers, architects, and contractors. The role may also fill Assistant Energy Engineer vacancies and involve energy, power-plant, HVAC, renewable-energy, energy-audit, and construction-management duties. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, an EIT certificate, or professional mechanical-engineer registration, plus two years of full-time professional-level mechanical engineering experience. A valid California Class C driver license may be required, and successful candidates are placed on a list to fill vacancies during the next six months.
