Jackson State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate Spanish and linguistics courses, maintaining an active research agenda, advising majors, serving on academic committees, participating in study abroad and professional development activities, and collaborating with departmental faculty. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Spanish or Hispanic Studies with a focus in Sociolinguistics or Second Language Acquisition by the date of appointment, at least three years of college or university instruction in Spanish, native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, proven effectiveness in teaching and advising, and experience in recruitment and retention; training and teaching in linguistics and global language and culture are preferred.
