Description

Southern Methodist University is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Leadership & Involvement to report to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and lead a portfolio covering the Hunt Leadership Scholars Program, Principled Leadership, Parent & Family Programs, Student Center & Activities, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Orientation & Transitions. The role focuses on student engagement, leadership development, community building, program innovation, stakeholder collaboration, and direct student engagement. Candidates should have a master's degree in a relevant field, at least 10 years of progressively responsible student-affairs leadership experience, and experience developing strategic initiatives, supervising professional staff, managing risk, and partnering with students, families, faculty, alumni, donors, and external stakeholders.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student affairs, including fraternity and sorority life, student activities, orientation, and family programs or closely related areas
Experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives advancing student engagement, leadership development, belonging, retention, and student success
Experience leading complex organizations, supervising professional staff, and fostering accountability, collaboration, and employee development
Experience navigating complex institutional environments and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders
Experience fostering cross-functional collaboration and alignment across complex organizations
Experience partnering with alumni, donors, volunteers, families, and external stakeholders
Experience collaborating with academic leaders and faculty to integrate co-curricular engagement and student learning outcomes
