Smithfield Foods is seeking an Associate Area Hog Buyer to source and schedule high-quality market pigs for designated facilities, analyze livestock markets, maintain supplier relationships, support supplier database updates, communicate compliance requirements, report purchases, and provide competitor and market insights. The role requires a bachelor's degree in animal science, agricultural business, agricultural economics, economics, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience. Preferred qualifications include pork or food industry knowledge and Transport Quality Assurance-Advisor or Pork Quality Assurance certification. The position requires strong analytical, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and Microsoft Office skills, at least 10% travel, and readiness to work in a plant environment. The expected annual salary is $50,000 to $70,000.
