Description

PLOS is hiring an Associate Director, Publishing to provide strategic leadership for its journal portfolio, oversee publishing performance and investments, develop journal strategies, manage budgets and forecasts, and lead a team of senior publishing professionals. The role requires substantial experience launching open-access journals, STM publishing, portfolio strategy, and managing senior publishing staff, with a fully remote arrangement for eligible UK and United States candidates. The base salary is $145,000–$157,000 for United States candidates or £90,000–£104,000 for United Kingdom candidates, with comprehensive benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Required Previous Experiences: Substantial experience launching open-access journals from proposal to publication

Experience managing senior publishing professionals or comparable portfolio leaders
Experience developing and executing strategic plans with measurable business and operational outcomes
Experience leading and developing high-performing, geographically distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading high-volume journal portfolios and/or megajournals
