The Mechanical Prototype Engineer supports the design, analysis, modification, and installation of aircraft mechanical systems such as air conditioning, ventilation, smoke detection, cooling, oxygen, water, vacuum waste, and refrigerant systems. The role applies engineering principles and CAD tools, reviews specifications, selects components, supports manufacturable designs, verifies compliance with customer, quality, and FAA requirements, and resolves technical issues under the guidance of experienced engineers. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is required, while two years of relevant engineering experience and aviation or aircraft-interior experience are preferred. The expected Washington, D.C. salary range is $81,000 to $93,000, with medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) match.
