Description

Lunar is hiring an ATE Mechanical Engineer to develop mechanical systems for home energy products across the full product development lifecycle. The role covers mechanical design, 3D modeling, drawings and GD&T, tolerance and finite-element analysis, test fixtures and jigs, PCBA and electromechanical troubleshooting, manufacturing processes, supplier and production support, prototyping, and onsite build support. The position requires extensive experience with mechanical design and 3D modeling software, with approximately 10–20% travel as needed.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Extensive experience with 3D modeling software such as Onshape, NX, or Solidworks
Experience with test fixtures, jigs, and high-cycle mechanical components
Experience with fine-pitch assemblies and construction
Experience with PCBA management and mechanical control outline generation
Experience communicating with component suppliers and managing design-for-manufacturing, first-article inspection, and production approval processes
Extensive onsite build support experience at domestic and international contract manufacturing sites, with approximately 10–20% travel
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of PCBA Bed of Nails fixtures
Detailed knowledge of 2D drawing creation and GD&T
Ability to analyze designs using tolerance analysis, statics, load-path analysis, finite-element analysis, root-cause analysis, and design failure analysis
Familiarity with electronic test equipment and basic electromechanical troubleshooting
Ability to conduct strain-gauge measurements and design for PCB stress
Working knowledge of pneumatic cylinders and control methods
Working knowledge of thermal management techniques
Prototyping skills using 3D printing, machining, sheet-metal bending, laser cutting, milling, and machine-shop tools
Ability to generate work instructions for electromechanical assemblies
Knowledge of process failure modes and effects analysis
Ability to create preventive maintenance documentation
Ability to generate detailed design documentation
Ability to drive projects from start to deployment with cross-functional teams, vendors, and technicians
Ability to collaborate with electrical and automated test engineers
Clear verbal and written communication and slide-deck creation
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
