Description
The Auto Body Technician assesses, repairs, and restores damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition in a collision repair shop. Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates, removing and replacing damaged sections, repairing dents and structural damage, replacing glass and interior parts, welding, painting, and inspecting completed work. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a technical school program, or a three-year apprenticeship, along with the ability to work safely in a noisy, odorous environment, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform physical inspections and repairs. Compensation is $23–$32 per hour on a flat-rate, performance-based structure.
