Description
The Principal Maintenance Inspector (PMI) applies substantial knowledge and experience with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations to develop and implement standards, programs, and procedures for FAA field personnel and the public governing general aviation maintenance safety. The role independently plans and directs complex maintenance-safety programs, advises Aviation Safety Inspectors on policy interpretations, exercises certificate authority, and monitors complex general aviation organizations. It requires U.S. citizenship, a moderate-risk background investigation, a high school diploma or equivalent, English fluency, and FAA General Aviation Maintenance certification and ratings, along with at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I or FG/GS-13 level.
