The Principal Maintenance Inspector (PMI) serves as the HEMS (HAA) principal at the St. Louis FSDO, applying substantial knowledge and experience with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations to develop and implement standards, programs, procedures, and technical procedures for general aviation maintenance safety. The role independently plans and directs complex maintenance-safety programs, advises Aviation Safety Inspectors on policy interpretations, exercises certificate authority, and monitors complex general aviation organizations and aircraft overhaul facilities.
