Pylon is hiring a Back End Engineer for its Underwriting team to encode mortgage underwriting rules into software, translate regulatory guidelines into executable logic, and build precise, testable systems. The role involves working with mortgage experts, applying AI and agentic infrastructure, automating regulated processes, and owning features from design through deployment and maintenance. The technology stack includes TypeScript, custom DSLs, AI/ML tooling, NestJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Temporal.io. The position is based in Palo Alto, California, with a base salary of $140,000 to $220,000 per year plus equity and benefits.
