Citadel AI is hiring a Backend Engineer in Tokyo to build and operate cloud infrastructure and product backend systems for evaluating, monitoring, and governing AI systems. The role covers infrastructure optimization, scalability, monitoring, deployments, web servers, SQL databases, APIs, LLM/AI libraries, GPU inference, and external-service integrations, primarily using Python, Google Cloud, Docker, Helm, PostgreSQL, Redis, FastAPI, and Flask. Candidates need at least three years of cloud infrastructure or backend engineering experience, business-level Japanese and English communication skills, and the ability to learn rapidly; startup, AI/ML/LLM, or cloud infrastructure experience is preferred. The position may consider exceptional remote candidates.
