The Backend Engineer will design and build scalable, testable backend systems and APIs for a fintech team focused on compliance and identity infrastructure. The role involves high-trust architecture, complex product challenges, automated testing, and hands-on engineering leadership in a distributed team. Candidates need at least five years of backend engineering experience, including production APIs, distributed services, regulated-domain systems, relational databases, message queues, and cloud or containerized deployments. The position is fully remote for candidates in European timezones, with in-person company-wide meetings every six weeks, and offers a base salary of EUR 116,000 to EUR 146,000; visa sponsorship is not available.
