Description
The Backend Engineer will join the core infrastructure team of a pre-seed energy technology startup and help design and scale a modular billing engine, low-level energy-market communication protocols, and a full accounting ledger. The role involves architecting scalable backend systems, building and shipping production features, improving engineering culture and code quality, and contributing to technical decision-making. It requires at least three years of production backend infrastructure experience, proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, PostgreSQL and ORM-based data access, Next.js backend services, distributed systems knowledge, and fluency in German at C1 level or above. The position is on-site in Berlin five days per week and offers EUR 80,000 to EUR 120,000 per year, with visa sponsorship available.
