Description
The Mental Health Patient Care Technician provides one-to-one care and support to mentally ill patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting patient status, facilitating group teaching, observing for suicidal or homicidal intent, assisting with restraint and seclusion procedures, performing physical exams and specimen collection, completing court-related documentation, and educating patients and families about Michigan Mental Health Code rights. The role requires two years of college study in behavioral health or equivalent education and experience, plus six months of related clinical experience, or a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health discipline.
