Description

Twist is hiring a Technical Application Scientist to serve as a customer-facing bioinformatics professional and technical liaison for its NGS target enrichment portfolio. The role provides pre- and post-sales technical support, custom NGS panel design, bioinformatics troubleshooting, customer presentations, and collaboration with sales, product, R&D, and production teams. It is remote with up to 10% travel and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a base salary of $154,000–$180,000 USD plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: PhD in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 2+ years of biotech/commercial experience in genomics
7+ years of biotech/commercial experience in genomics for BS or MS candidates
Technical knowledge of NGS applications and bioinformatics for whole-exome sequencing, RNA-seq, and methylation
Experience with bioinformatic tools including BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools
Experience working in Linux and command-line applications
Preferred Qualifications: Background in medical genetics, oncology, or immunology
Deep understanding of molecular and medical genetics
4+ years in a customer-facing role
Wet-lab experience with molecular biology and NGS library preparation
