1X is hiring a Biomechanics Researcher to study biological systems and translate their force generation, energy absorption, sensing, stability, and adaptation into quantitative performance models, engineering specifications, benchmarks, and experimental targets for humanoid robots. The role involves designing and analyzing complex physical systems, identifying performance gaps between robotic and biological systems, and guiding hardware, software, actuator, sensor, material, and control-system development. Candidates need a PhD in a relevant field, at least five years of experience, expertise in biomechanics and quantitative analysis, and strong experimental and cross-disciplinary skills. Compensation is $200,000-$250,000 plus equity, with medical, dental, vision, retirement, leave, and other benefits.
