Description

Helix BioStructures, LLC is hiring a full-time Biophysical Characterization Scientist in Indianapolis to design and execute multi-technique experiments characterizing client proteins and protein–ligand interactions. The role covers method development, assay qualification and quality control, binding affinity and kinetics, stability and oligomeric-state analysis, recombinant protein expression and purification, data interpretation, technical reporting, and client presentations. Candidates need a Ph.D. or an advanced degree with substantial relevant industrial experience, hands-on experience across several biophysical techniques, and strong analytical and communication skills. The position is based in Indianapolis, does not offer a hybrid arrangement, and includes relocation, retirement matching, health, dental, and vision insurance.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, protein engineering, or a related field; or a Master’s degree with 2–5 years of relevant industrial experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with 5–10 years of relevant industrial experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Independent experience with at least three of the listed biophysical techniques.
Experience determining binding affinities and kinetic constants with appropriate controls, replicates, and error analysis.
Hands-on recombinant protein expression and purification experience.
Experience with protein quality, purity, and stability analytical techniques.
Method development and troubleshooting experience.
Data analysis, curve fitting, and scientific judgment experience.
Written and oral communication experience, including client presentations.
Preferred Qualifications: HDX-MS or native mass spectrometry experience.
SAXS data collection, processing, and interpretation, including synchrotron beamline experience.
Fragment-based screening and orthogonal hit validation experience.
Membrane protein biophysics experience.
Antibody and biologics characterization experience.
Enzymology and activity assay development experience.
Python, R, or GraphPad Prism experience.
CRO, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical experience.
Structural biology exposure.
