Description

Arista Networks is hiring a BIOS Software Engineer to develop, integrate, test, and maintain low-level CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader software for its networking products. The role involves bringing up new CPU boards, qualifying CPUs with vendors, contributing to Linux kernel and open-source BIOS communities, debugging firmware, supporting customers and system tests, and providing technical leadership and mentorship. Candidates need a relevant degree plus three years of experience or an equivalent combination, extensive C programming experience, and experience with CPU firmware, BIOS, boot loaders, and CPU architectures.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus three years of experience; or Master of Science in the same fields plus two years of experience; or Ph.D. in the same fields plus one year of experience; or equivalent work experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Experience designing and developing software in CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader environments
Experience bringing up new CPU boards
Hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and fixing bugs in low-level CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader software
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of C++ and Python
Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation
Understanding of IP networking architecture, design, and principles
Applied understanding of modern software engineering principles and practices
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong software design and implementation skills
Ability to work independently and in small teams
Ability to communicate and document designs and implementations clearly and concisely
Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures
