Description

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a bridge and structural engineer to provide engineering expertise for transportation programs, serving as responsible-charge engineer for the evaluation, design, detailing, construction support, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridges and other structures. The role includes structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, preparation and review of plans, application of AASHTO and VDOT standards, project and consultant contract management, engineering studies, technical reporting, stakeholder communication, construction meetings, and development of policies and process improvements. A degree in civil or structural engineering, relevant structural engineering experience, automated engineering software skills, and a valid Professional Engineer license are required; bridge design and rehabilitation, LRFD, MicroStation, and MS Office experience are preferred.
